Beyond the Veil
Day 5 Devotional: Beyond the Veil
January 9, 2025
Scripture: Hebrews 10:19-20
"Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body..."
There’s a place within reach, a place so sacred, so filled with the presence of God, that it transcends every other experience in life. It’s a place beyond the veil, a place where the tangible meets the eternal. In the Old Testament, only the high priest could enter this holy of holies, and only once a year, after great sacrifice. But when Jesus died, the veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom, and suddenly, the access that was once restricted to a few was made available to all who would believe.
You see, beyond the veil isn’t just a location; it’s a profound shift in the very nature of our relationship with God. The veil was the barrier—our separation from the Holy of Holies. It was our sin, our distance, our inadequacy. And for centuries, humanity longed for the day when that veil would be torn, when the distance would be closed, and the intimacy of God’s presence would be fully available to us.
Jesus didn’t just die for our forgiveness; He died to give us access to God Himself. He became the veil. His body was torn open so that we could step into the presence of God. It wasn’t just about salvation from our sin; it was about being restored to the original purpose of humanity—to walk with God, to know Him intimately, to experience the reality of His presence, not as something distant but as something deeply personal and accessible.
But here’s the challenge: many of us live in the shadow of the veil, knowing that there’s more, but never fully stepping into it. We get caught up in religion, in rituals, in the motions, but we miss the invitation to cross over into something greater. The veil has been torn, but many of us still stand at the entrance, hesitant, unsure, or unwilling to press in. The curtain that once separated us from God’s presence has been ripped open, but it’s up to us to step through.
It takes courage to step into the presence of God. It takes faith to believe that beyond the veil is not just an empty space, but the very fullness of God Himself waiting to meet you. Beyond the veil is where you experience God not just as an idea, but as a reality—where you hear His voice, feel His presence, and are transformed by His glory. And when you step beyond the veil, you’ll find that the things you once thought were important begin to fade, because nothing compares to the beauty of being in God’s presence. The veil was torn so you could come in, not just on special occasions, but every single day.
Prayer
"God, I thank You that the veil has been torn, and the way has been made. I thank You for the access to Your presence that was bought by the blood of Jesus. Forgive me for staying on this side of the veil, for settling for less than what You’ve called me to. Today, I choose to step into Your presence, to leave behind the distractions, the fears, and the doubts that keep me at a distance. I choose to walk in intimacy with You, to experience the fullness of who You are, and to be changed by Your presence. I believe that You are waiting for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
