Day 6: Devotional: Embracing the Promise
Friday, January 10, 2025
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 1:20
"For no matter how many promises God has made, they are 'Yes' in Christ. And so through him the 'Amen' is spoken by us to the glory of God."
There’s a moment in every journey where you must make a choice—not just to receive the promise, but to embrace it. To say yes, not just with your mind, but with your heart, your spirit, and your life.
When God promises something, He doesn’t just promise an outcome. He promises a process, a journey, and a relationship. When He said, "I will be with you," it wasn’t just a promise for the future—it was a call to trust Him now. When He said, "I will provide," it wasn’t just about meeting our needs—it was an invitation to rely on Him.
Oftentimes we want to claim the promise, but we don’t always want to embrace it. Embracing the promise isn’t just about receiving—it’s about living in it, walking in it, and standing on it.
The promise is not just a gift waiting for you at the finish line, but it is the very thing that sustains you through every trial, every setback, every moment when you feel like giving up. When God made a promise, He made it with His integrity on the line. That’s why He said, "Yes" in Christ. And what’s our part? We say "Amen"—we agree, we align, we step into what He has already declared.
The problem is that many of us want the promise without the transformation. We want the fulfillment, but we don’t always want the work required to receive it. God’s promises are always for our good, but they are also designed to stretch us, to change us, to move us from “here” where we are to “there”, where He is taking us.
The promise is more than a destination—it’s a reality God is calling you to live in right now. Don’t wait for the circumstances to line up. Don’t wait for everything to make sense. Embrace the promise as though it’s already true, because in Christ, it is. Your faith is not about waiting for what’s next; it’s about living in what God has already said. Step into it, live in it, and let the truth of His promises shape everything about your life today.
Today’s Prayer
"Father, I hear Your promises, but sometimes it’s hard to embrace them when I can’t see them yet. I’ve been waiting, and I’ve been trusting, but there are times it is taking longer than I expected. Help me to move beyond just believing in the promise and to embrace it—now. Teach me to walk in Your promise with confidence, to trust Your timing and Your ways, knowing that the delay doesn’t mean You’re not at work. I choose to say ‘Amen’ to Your Word. I choose to say ‘Amen’ to Your Word. I choose to believe even when I don't see. I choose to embrace Your promise today, not just with my words, but with my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
